Autistic clients and those with ADHD need to have aspects of their basic personality taken into account during therapy. As well as this, they should be met and appreciated for the individuals that they are with their unique goals, strengths and history. This can be achieved by taking a person-centered approach and motivation focused approach to connect with the client’s individual values and life goals as well as focusing on the strengths to counteract the invalidation and disempowerment that is experienced by many people with ADHD and/or Autism.
